Oedipus’ daughters Antigone and Ismene are grieving the death of their brothers. Antigone is defiant at the law imposed by her Uncle that no traitor killed in war is to be buried. The law of the state conflicts with the unwritten burial laws of the gods. Which law holds more weight and which outweighs the other: the law of the state or the right of the individual? Is now a time to comply or a time to defy?

The Capulet Ball
A Night of Love, Light, and Shakespearean Delight.
Step into the world of Romeo and Juliet at The Capulet Ball, a magical launch event celebrating our upcoming Shakespeare at the Lake production. Celebrate Valentine’s Day in true Shakespearean style with live music, a complimentary drink on arrival, and gourmet catering at the beautiful Crackerjack Cooroy.
Guests are invited to dress in Shakespearean-inspired attire themed around love and enjoy an evening filled with immersive entertainment, including silent and live auctions and exciting raffles. Join us for a night where romance, revelry, and the spirit of Verona come alive.
Rapunzel | Panto at the Lake
A tangled tale of magic, mischief, and marvelous hair!
High atop a hidden tower lives a girl with hair as bright as sunshine, longing to see the world beyond her window. When fate, and a heroic visitor, arrives at her door, an unforgettable adventure begins. The magic of pantomime comes to life with dazzling costumes, outrageous comedy and audience participation that is guaranteed to enchant both the young, and the young at heart. This is where we lay our scene: the Montagues and Capulets are locked in a bitter feud when Romeo first lays eyes on Juliet, igniting a love that defies families, challenges fate, and endures in a world determined to keep them apart. This May, the timeless tale of star-crossed lovers unfolds against a breathtaking backdrop for an unforgettable afternoon of Shakespeare at the Lake.

It’s the one that you want!
Grease is the word this September as the electrifying, smash-hit musical bursts onto the Sunshine Coast for a high-octane, strictly limited season. Get ready to be transported back to the 1950s with a non-stop, nostalgic soundtrack featuring iconic hits like ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Greased Lightning’, and ‘You’re the One That I Want’. So grab your poodle skirts, slick back your hair, and drive in to the ultimate feel-good musical that’ll have you dancing in your seat and singing all the way home!

After Juliet
For love, they died. For love, they will pay.
What happens after the death of Romeo and Juliet? Set in the present day, using modern language, revenge and rebellion burst forth in this unapologetic new play that centres on Rosaline - Juliet’s cousin and Romeo’s exflame.
Surrounding her are the many other young Capulets who live on, as well as the Montagues - Benvolio, Romeo’s best friend, and Valentine, Mercutio’s twin brother. The two sides seem polarized once more with increasing violence, need for revenge, and doomed loves in turmoil. It is up to the young people of After Juliet to decide whether the cycle of violence and prejudice will continue or will their world shift towards peace and new beginnings.
Step back into Verona, and discover what happens after the world’s greatest love story ends.
Charlotte’s Web
Friendship spins the strongest web of all.

With the miraculous messages she spins into her web, she sets off a chain of events that transforms not only Wilbur’s fate, but the hearts of everyone who sees her work. The Twits
Delightfully devious and masterfully mischievous
Get ready for a riotous romp of mischief, mayhem and laughs as Roald Dahl’s The Twits comes to life, presented by the Junior Acting Extension cohort. Join the outrageously wicked couple, Mr. and Mrs. Twit, as they plot and scheme in their never-ending battle of pranks, tricks, and tricks played on each other.
A Wrinkle In Time
A story of good and evil challenging our views of spirituality and purpose.
One of literature's most courageous young heroines, Meg Murry, joins forces with her baby brother Charles Wallace, friend and neighbour Calvin O'Keefe, and the celestial beings Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. They battle the forces of evil in order to rescue Meg and Charle's father, in doing so they save humanity, and discover themselves. Traveling through time and space, Meg must save us all from IT, the evil force that has cast its shadow over the universe. Meg battles with Love, but will it be enough to overcome evil?

A sweet boy from a poor family dreams of finding one of five golden tickets hidden inside chocolate bar wrappers which will admit him to the eccentric and reclusive Willy Wonka's magical factory. One after another, tickets are discovered by ghastly children - but will the lad find the last remaining one and have all his dreams come true?

Matilda is about a young girl named Matilda Wormwood, who has an incredible intellect and magic powers, including the ability to levitate objects. She is a lover of books, and can read stories meant for adults by the age of four. Follow Matilda's journey as she uses her wit and newfound telekinetic powers to overcome adversity and protect her kind-hearted teacher, Miss Honey.

The Wizard of Oz, presented by the Gympie Junior Acting Cohort.
An ‘in-class showcase style’ abridged version of the beloved play, celebrating the cohort’s semester of work.
Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto are swept from Kansas by a tornado to the magical Land of Oz. To get home, she must follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City to ask the great and powerful Wizard of Oz for help. Along the way, she befriends a Scarecrow who wants a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage, all of whom hope the Wizard can help them too. They must overcome obstacles and defeat the Wicked Witch of the West to get their wishes and Dorothy's wish to go home.
Mamma Mia
The ultimate feel-good musical!
It’s time to party, Sunshine Coast. ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

Mamma Mia - On the Catalina!

Dot & The Kangaroo Jr
Queensland Premiere - An all-new musical adaptation of the bestselling Australian classic.
Young, rambunctious Dot longs for an adventure exploring everything the country has to offer. When she finds herself lost and afraid in the darkening Australian bush, Dot befriends a wise mother Kangaroo who enlists the help of Australia’s favourite bush creatures to help Dot find her way back home.

Beautiful princess Rapunzel has been locked away in a tower since she was captured as a baby by an old hag. Her magical long blonde hair has the power to provide eternal youth, and the evil Gothel uses this power to keep her young. At the age of 18, Rapunzel becomes curious about the outside world, and when a prince uses her tower as a refuge, she asks him to help her escape.

Join Alice, the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, the March Hare and Caterpillar as Alice falls down the rabbit heart and into the heart of Wonderland. A land where smiling cats, crazy Queens and Mad Hatters show Alice that all the ‘best people’ are, in fact, mad.
Shakespeare at the Lake: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Shakespeare’s quintessential story of fairies, lovers and kings, set against a timeless backdrop.
Step into a world of whimsical enchantment as A Midsummer Night’s Dream comes to life at the stunning Lake MacDonald Amphitheatre.
This immersive outdoor performance unfolds as four Athenians run away to the forest only to have Puck the fairy make both of the boys fall in love with the same girl. The four run through the forest pursuing each other while Puck helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen.
Delight the whole family this May with an unforgettable afternoon of magic and laughter by the lake.

Our Town
With a story so simple and a heart so warm, this classic celebrates all that is precious in life. America's most famous play, reimagined.
This story follows the small town of Petrie Creek, Nambour, through three acts: "Daily Life," "Love and Marriage," and "Death and Eternity." Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props and sets, audiences follow the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry, live and die.

Under Milk Wood
In this small seaside community, the human experience comes to life.
Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood sets the scene in the small Welsh village of Llareggub. The play takes place over twenty-four hours, revealing the dreams, desires, and secret thoughts of its eccentric inhabitants.
This electric new production tells the story of Captain Cat, the blind sea captain, tormented in his dreams by his drowned shipmates, who long to live again and enjoy the pleasures of the world.
